Difference between twins heartbeats?

I’m 14 weeks pregnant with twins. While using the fetal Doppler I can clearly pick up the heartbeats on both sides of my belly, but how do you know if that’s the two separate hearts or if I’m just getting an echo or something from ONE of the heartbeats? They sound similar in speed and loudness too. So one isn’t just faint or anything. Both loud and strong.

Personally I don’t think you can tell the difference, and I wouldn’t use a doppler with twins. I only had a nurse/doctor use one for me a couple of times while pregnant, and even they couldn’t tell the difference or find both babies with any certainty!

I’ve always had success with my at home Doppler. I can tell the difference because twin A heart rate is always higher than twin B’s

My doctors/midwives will check to see if they can find them “just for fun” cause they say it’s really hard to do! I have ultrasounds at every appointment so we get the heart rates from there, but I think they enjoy trying to see if they can find both!
