Anyone pregnant and own a cat?

I’m 8w3d pregnant and had my intake today. The nurse mentioned toxoplasmosis but didn’t really mention the side effects. I looked it up and now I’m really scared. Does anyone else have cats? What precautions are you taking to prevent this?

I am 9 weeks pregnant and we have a cat. The only thing we do is I never touch her litter box. My husband cleans the box every day. 🤢

Just don’t grab your cats litter with your hands and eat it...and you should be fine.you have to actually touch the feces and put it in your mouth or lick your fingers to get the bacteria.
Wear gloves,wash your hands and change the litter daily.the bacteria starts developing after 24h.also it is extremely rare to get toxoplasmosis from a cat especially if it’s an indoor cat.the most possible way of getting it is fro raw meat or not washed veggies

I got a self changing litter box and my husband changes it every 30 days. Love it! I’ve had it for 4 years

I have 2 cats, and I got my husband to take over litter duty. They are indoor cats so I am not worried. I still scoop the litter once in a while if my husband had a long day, I just wash my hands with soap right after.

Five cats 😅 same as my first pregnancy, just don’t touch litter box. And if you HAVE to, wear gloves and mask and wash up really well afterwards. My husband cleans the cat box now though
