NT scan & Harmony Test

Mel

Following my 8 week scan the GP I've been seeing has said the last thing left I can choose to have done before my first appointment with a midwife at 15 weeks is the NT scan & Harmony Test.

From what I've read these tend to be recommended more in higher risk pregnancies - my partner and I are 30 & 31 with no pre-existing conditions or family history. I read often if you are under 35 these aren't even offered and that many people just have them done for the opportunity to get to see their baby again before the 20 week scan.

They are quite pricey in Australia, especially considering the fact that everything but these tests are covered under Medicare - meaning everything else is free! Which leads me to think they're not really necessary if it's not covered by public healthcare...

This is all new to me, so any feedback is welcomed!!
