Any advice would be helpful

I started a new job back in November (same company just different department) when Covid hit I was furloughed in March. My manager is fighting to try to get me back but the president of the company’s sent them away to gather more info to see if I can come back.

Question is, there’s a new position opening in my company that I applied for two years ago. Would it be bad to apply in case I don’t get my old job back?

I don’t want to burn any bridges but I need a job and most importantly need health insurance.

I don’t want to miss an opportunity for a job at the same company if I can help it and I won’t know if I’m going back until after the posting closes to apply for the new position.
