Had to get terbutaline today

So I woke up at 6:20 feeling really uncomfortable and a lot of pelvic pressure. I made a post this morning actually about it because it was getting pretty uncomfortable. Things started to worsen throughout the morning into the day, and I ended up in L&D having contractions.

I had no idea that I was actually having contractions, i thought I was just overreacting but my MIL begged me to go when she noticed how much pain I was in.

I had contractions for 9 hours but I didn’t dilate at all, my cervix was just very very soft but not open. They gave me 2 bags of IV fluids and terbutaline and when my contractions stopped they sent me home.

The terbutaline made me so nauseous I threw up in the car (luckily in a bag) on the way home from the hospital and I felt like my heart was racing really fast.

What I’m upset about is that before going to L&D I went to my OB’s office and when I got there they let me know that my doctor had been called into a delivery and asked if I would rather go home or see the other doctor in the office. I agreed to see the other doctor because I was in a lot of pain and I just wanted to make sure everything was normal and okay.

I had a pretty intense contraction when walking into the room and almost passed out. They were closing in 2 hours (they do half days on fridays) and instead of checking me and making sure i wasn’t in friggin labor or anything, he has my blood drawn and a urine culture and then rushes me out the door to go get a friggin EKG!! Absolutely nothing that was happening to me suggested that I needed an EKG whatsoever. So I drive down the road to the hospital and go into the outpatient center for the stupid pointless EKG, Which I didn’t even end up getting because this was about 6 and a half hours into contractions and was so exhausted and tired of being in almost constant pain so I told them I wasn’t doing it (I wasn’t rude about it but god I was just so fed up with not being taken seriously) and I went up to L&D.

Lo and behold, contractions. Almost back to back, not extremely painful but they never completely let up enough for me to relax. I could still talk and breathe and walk through it all because like I said I wasn’t dilating and it wasn’t that painful it was more like regular period cramps. I halfway expected to look down and see blood that’s how similar it felt to period cramps.

I’m not 100% sure why it happened because I’ve been staying on top of my water intake but it’s also very hot and humid here where I live and I have been babysitting. I’m just thankful that I went in and thankful that they were able to stop the contractions after 9 hours of having to deal with it.

i feel so exhausted now. I just wanted to let you all know what happened.
