Now what??

I just got a positive pregnancy test!! Do I just call my primary doctor and ask for a confirmation test and a prenatal appointment?? When should I make the appointment? How do I find an ob? I’ve never been to one so I’m clueless 😫... thank you!!

Call your family doctor and they’ll let you know where to go from here!
They’ll probably get you to take a blood test to check your vitamin levels and confirm pregnancy, then they can refer you to an OB or midwife and set up your first ultrasound!

I’d pick an obgyn and get an appt set up. No need to waste a trip to ur pcp, especially with covid. Unless ur insurance requires a referral, u don’t need to go to your regular doctor.

Also start taking prenatal vitamins if you aren’t already. You can just get them over the counter at any pharmacy. I take gummies!

Go to your insurance website and find an OBGYN in your area. Then look at reviews to find a good one. Just call and ask if they’re accepting new patients and that you would like to schedule a pregnancy confirmation appointment.

I asked a few women in my town for an OB the recommend and they all said the same doctor. So I called the office and told them I just found out I’m pregnant and would like to establish prenatal care with them. They will take it from there, just make sure their office is in your insurance network!
