How to wean a 12 month old?

This kid DOES NOT WANT TO WEAN. I don’t blame him. But I am pregnant again and it’s just time for me to be done. He doesn’t sleep well. And usually requires being nursed to sleep. We have tried the Ferber method,  bottles, offering a cup of milk before bed, and even a bit of CIO. He won’t budge. He also is whiney and screams about eeeeeverything all day long. I’m running out of patience and sanity. Please does anyone have ideas?

It’s hard, my daughter is 2 and this past Saturday was the last time she’s breastfed so far. Stay consistent, whatever you decide to do. She sleeps in bed with me so I’ll cuddle her, turn on her sound scapes/night light elephant and she gets to where she falls asleep within minutes. She eats dinner, has her bath and wind down time before we lay down. For my own comfort (I am 23 weeks pregnant with our second) I started telling her no every now and again when it came to nursing because it hurt and was really uncomfortable and I was getting breastfeeding aversion and not wanting to breastfeed the next one. Slowly cut back feeds. Keep his busy throughout the day and redirect him when he tries to nurse. Just have to be consistent, be patient because that’s been their comfort for all their life so just taking it away at the drop of a dime won’t be easy.

I had to dry myself up, and tell my son that my nipples were broken 🥴😂 I used cabbage on my breast for like a week. It slowly decreased, and he stopped wanting it as much bc there wasn’t too much milk. It took like two weeks, but it saved my nips. I was tired of bf’ing an 18m old 🙄

It was difficult but being 2 months pregnant and experiencing nursing aversion and feeling very sore at every feed, I decided to go cold turkey one day. I kept telling him the milk is for baby and offered him snuggles, snacks, and water instead. On top of that, I would also redirect him to something else. After a couple weeks, he got the picture and has been sleeping much better too!

My son did not want to wean but we wanted to start fertility again and I couldn't start fertility if I was still breastfeeding so I did a large bandages over top of my nipples so everytime he pulled my boob out to feed I'd say the milk is all gone at this time he could take a bottle so he was fine it was just me mainly  for his nighttime routine of feeding and anytime you felt like having a snack. It really did work for him because there was nothing to latch onto

I agree with the other comment. Find a method that works for you. Consistency and patience is the key.

Stick with one method. Its going to be hard, but you have to be consistant.
