Can you tell through an ultrasound if you are about to get your period? or through bloodwork what hormone would they be looking for to see if you are about to get your period?

I am late on my period and am not pregnant. my nurse at my fertility clinic said she wants me to come in to do a full bladder ultrasound and blood work. Im just confused as to why the ultrasound is needed.
