COVID Baby showers

Sara

Hi everyone,

Please no negative comments, I know the risks, I’m a masters student in biology with a focus in microbiology, I’m not trying to downplay COVID at all. I just genuinely want to know what others are doing in this time. I’ve never done this before let alone in the middle of a pandemic.

So with that said, I’m a first time momma to be, pregnant with our rainbow baby after 3 losses. So I am BEYOND excited for our little miracle and the adventure of mother hood that lies ahead. I want to have the best prenatal experience I can, with as many of the experiences as I can. Luckily we live in a more rural part of the state so we haven’t been affected as bad as many places.

At first I thought Covid was getting a better here and more under control, but in the last week our county has gone from little to no cases to almost 100 with at least one reported death that my husband’s shift had to respond too. His car partner was exposed and is in quarantine and found out as he was on his way to pick my husband up. Again, all this within the last week.

I was hoping to have a baby shower Labor Day weekend...but I don’t see that happening.

What has everyone else done? I wasn’t sure how maybe an outdoor shower with masks would go? Or should I just try to go virtual? We NEED the shower to help with buying everything we need since I’ve been out of work because of Covid, though I’m working again now.

What are everyone’s thoughts/plans in the coming months?
