Tattoo? Epidural?

Will having a back tattoo(spine) affect my chances of epidural??....

I had a epidural and I have a huge dragon covering my whole back almost  from the top of my neck to down my ass .hahaha , shouldn’t be a problem

Not unless the tattoo is:
Raised and scaly
Red, swollen or oozing fluid — it appears infected
Recent and the affected skin is still healing

When I was a teenager the “tramp stamp” tattoos were extremely popular and apparently there was some big PSA about not being able to get an epidural if your tattoo was in the spot that they place the catheter. 
In actual fact, unless it was a newer tattoo that wasn’t completely healed and still had a potential for infection it shouldn’t matter at all. I think the only concern is that it might scar and mess up the look of the tattoo a little afterwards.

They are not suppose to stick a needle through a tattoo.

I have one on my back and they did the epidural in the middle ish of my back. So I was ok. The tat was in a diff spot so maybe that’s why I was ok.

I’ve heard this but it may be an old wives tale. I say no solely bc they may have to do an emergency one and a tattoo stopping someone from pain relief seems ridiculous
