Need advice! Found kittens

We passed a mama cat and three kittens on our backroads drive. They were taking shelter under and tree right by the road. It looks like maybe someone’s barn cat or outside cat maybe? We tried the house but no one answered. I’m not sure what to do. Do you just leave them and hope they’ll be fine? They’re still nursing but mama looked skinny. I’m not sure how any of them will do once the kittens stop nursing. Not to mention the fact that they’re taking refuge by a road and in a cornfield. But I’m also not sure if it’s the people at the houses cat. Do you leave them or try to rescue them?
