H E L P! HASHIMOTO’S DISEASE | THYROID LEVELS
Hi ladies! I apologize in advance for the long post. So I’m currently 14 weeks and 2 days and I’ve been seeing an endocrinologist since about 9 weeks bc my OB was concerned about a little abnormal results in my thyroid levels. I had more bloodwork done and although my thyroid levels are stable for now I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s Disease. The specialist said that I don’t need to take any medication and she’ll just monitor my thyroid levels every 4 weeks and that I also have to try to go on a gluten free diet since I have chronic hives as a result of Hashimoto’s. I’m a little worried because all the articles I read online say that I should be taking a certain medication called levothyroxine. It also says in all the medical websites that if Hashimoto’s is left untreated it can cause miscarriage, stillborn, a higher chance baby can have birth defects, intellectual issues and development delays. It can also cause pre eclampsia and premature delivery. I’ve had a history with abnormal thyroid levels even when not pregnant but I never had it actually during my two past pregnancies. I just want to hear any other momma’s out there who have gone through the same thing during pregnancy and if their doctors said that they’ll just monitor you and your levels without actually treating it and what your outcome is. I understand I shouldn’t be listening to anything I read online and to trust my doctor but if ALL the websites are saying the same thing, it just worries me a little. Thank you for taking the time to read this and help this worried momma out 💕
