Whats the deal with the coronavirus?

Ok. So before I get hate, yes I do wear a mask in public, wash my hands regularly, social distance, do everything I am supposed to do etc. Also, i am genuinely asking this because I don't get it, not because I am trying to prove a point or anything. 
So I am in the US. Coronavirus cases have been spiking in parts of the US again, although not in my area. Recently I have read articles that the infection rate of the Coronavirus may have been up to 13x higher than originally thought based on the results they have been getting on the antibody tests. These results have been portrayed as a bad thing  but wouldn't that be a good thing? Doesn't that mean that more people have the antibodies to the virus and won't get infected if they come in contact with a sick person again. Also doesn't that mean that the mortality rate is way lower than we originally thought? And if that is the case, how is this worse than the flu and why can't we open things up and get the economy going again?

The deal is that it’s a pandemic. People are dying. It’s also that we don’t know much about this virus, we don’t know if it will be like herpes where infected people could have outbreaks again later in life or if it’s like chicken pox where once you get it, you’re immune and won’t have another outbreak, or if later in life it could evolve into something different (like chicken pox to shingles). We don’t know.
Very healthy people one day are dead within a month because of it. Those that have recovered, who knows what effect it will have on the rest of their lives. They might now be more susceptible to a weakened immune system instead of a stronger one. They may have issues with fertility. There is simply no way to know. That’s what makes it so scary.

I read an article that says if you had the virus it basically changes your immune system. So you may have survived the virus but you’re a lot weaker for A LONG TIME. I have an employee who was sick in February supposedly before the corona virus hit the US. She was sick for two weeks, then got pneumonia. She had all the symptoms of early cases. In July she is still short of breath, can’t work out because her body still isn’t what it used to be, and still feels some of the effects. 
Reports also show the younger demographic doesn’t get as sick, however I have an employee who’s daughter died of the virus, people in their 20-30s are getting sick now more than before. 
Also, more people with antibodies means we didn’t do enough to protect people from getting sick. There aren’t enough cases for herd immunity so it’s still not a good thing. 
Lastly, if it’s as bad as the flu that still means twice the amount of deaths because people are still dying from the flu and now this pandemic. Saying it’s just as bad as the flu doesn’t make it ok, that means twice the normal mortality rate of a normal cold and flu season.

The deal is unknown. We don’t know a lot about it. There are people who are testing positive for a second time after testing negative and recovering. They don’t know if they’ve been reinfected or if it flares up again. And to me, this is nothing like the flu. This causes sometimes permanent respiratory damage. The test numbers and everything are just kind of a toss up because it all happened so quickly that everything was rushed.

Update to my previous comment. Here is a screen shot of an article detailing long term effects. The article is long but identifies lasting damage to the lungs, heart, neurological system, physical trauma and lasting fatigue. It has examples of otherwise “healthy” patients needing lung transplants and a direct quote from the article states “Dr. Chotani echoes this. “This is a very heterogeneous disease, as patients can die not only from lung failure, but also kidney failure, blood clots, liver abnormalities, and neurological manifestations,” he says. Research has increasingly shown that blood clotting associated with COVID-19 can lead to heart attacks or put stress on your heart due to lack of adequate blood flow.”
Also, some patients are experiencing potential brain damage or injury. This is rare, but still a scary side effect.

I won’t claim to be an expert but I have read a lot about them not knowing how long you have antibodies for. Some originally suspected 18 months but I’ve been seeing 5-8 weeks now because reinfection rates are going up. So that’s why they can’t open the economy confidently again 😊

Yes the mortality rate is not nearly what they suspected, and at this point it’s not even considered a “pandemic” any longer because the number of positive cases versus deaths isn’t high enough to be considered a pandemic. It would also be really helpful, if hospitals and clinics weren’t counting positive tests from the same person as separate individual cases.(ex:Someone tests positive on Monday, same person gets tested each day that week until the test becomes negative, say on Saturday. That would be counted and recorded as FIVE covid cases, even tho it’s only one person. Now multiply that by hundreds of thousands.)
I’ll keep wearing my mask and social distancing though because I do think it’s helping slow the curve. I also don’t find it surprising that we are getting a second “wave” in the US just before the elections are coming up lol even tho no other country is experiencing that🤔
