I don’t know if I’m allowed to recommend a YouTube video on here, but I watched this girl (search “how I got pregnant instantly by Victoria ciftci”) and she explained it so quickly and easily that now it makes PERFECT sense to me. 
But basically, most of the time your first line will be faint (a low test). When your lines match in how dark they are, you’re in your fertile window. When your line is OBVIOUSLY darker then the control, you are at your “peak” and will ovulate in 12-24 hours. After you ovulate your lines will go back to faint again.
So depending on when you tested that day you got your peak you might have ovulated and that’s why it’s lower again. Your urine also may have been super diluted this time
