First IVF done

Tanya

Hello lovelies ,

I have been following these boards for a while and finally thought I will share my experience.

Been trying for a baby since 2019 after a devastating loss of a younger sibling. Before that was just cruising in life and always thought we have time. I’m 37 now and the hubby 42.

However we realised it wasn’t happening. The doctor suggested IUI as my AMH is 1.2 while thankfully his sperm is fine. But maybe it was the personal mind space as 2019 was a blur due to grief and me on auto-pilot. Anyways we did 3 IUIs and failed. Then COVID happened and lockdown. We tried naturally again with tracking etc. nothing happened.

Finally IVF this cycle. Was put on 375 ml Gynogen for a week and then slowly tapered to 250 -225. Then Cetrotide.

Today morning they did the pick up and used general anaesthia.

The doctor who I trust deeply told my husband that 5 eggs have been retrieved.

She wants to freeze them. Firstly she says too many hormones in my body so implantation she wants to do in a month or so.

Secondly she wants us to go through another ivf cycle so to increase the bank.

I personally am not sure what to do. Implant the good one or two embryo (I know not all 5 will translate into it) or do another cycle immediately (as I’m in the zone) and increase the bank.

She suggests with this we can we can implant a few times if we fail and then I don’t need to repeat the ivf cycle and play the waiting game. Secondly she says if after a few years we want another child we have this option.

Anyone with similar experiences?

Thank you.
