is my tragus piercing infected ??!

I just got my tragus pierced a little over a week ago, and i’ve been very persistent on cleaning it correctly since i KNOW that would hurt if it did get infected. it’s VERY sore and swollen and looks crusty & gross lol. 
the piercer recommended soaking my ear in salt water/saline solution for at least 10 minutes, and then cleaning the area with Dial dish soap, and recommended doing that twice a day until it heals.

It just looks irritated and swollen. I have both of mine done...and they were pretty angry for a few weeks afterwards. Keep using the salt water...I wouldn't even bother with dial yet. Multiple soaks a day in salt water is more than enough to keep it clean for now. Dial can be very drying in the early stages. Try not to sleep on that side at all. Also, having it initially pierced with a hoop is always going to cause more issues than a stud...moves a lot. Keep an eye on how the temperature of it feels...if it ever feels hot, it's probably infected. Good luck!

I had mine pierced with a ring and didn’t have a problem with it so don’t listen to whoever said to get it changed. That will just cause more trauma in the long run. I’ve healed a million ear piercings and the best advice I can give you is PROVON. It’s an anti microbial soap, I’ll post a pic of the bottle below. Get it on amazon, and clean it once a day when you take a shower, am or pm doesn’t matter just once a day take a q tip soap it up good, move the ring around, and then rinse really well. Over cleaning it will irritate it too. Salt water rinses leave salt residue that will irritate it further. Dial soap is not good for piercings and my piecer cringes just hearing them words “dial soap” guarantee in a few days if you try what I just recommended, it’ll be a million times better 👍🏻
