I’m confused... any parents that use nanny’s on here??

I’m a nanny and have been working for a family full time since January

For those of you that are parents who use nannies, what do you expect to get out of your nanny?

I’m asking because obviously the main thing is for them to take care of your children and keep them alive..... feed them, dress them, make sure their needs are met... you know, just their basic needs.

You’re obviously expected to keep them entertained and busy throughout the day too.... vs. them being on tablets and video games the whole day

The other day however, it was my pay day, and the 4 year old was talking to the dad before he ran to the bank and he was like “daddy make sure you get money for ms. [me]” and he was joking around and asked the 4 year old why and he goes “because she plays with me” and for some reason the dad completely flipped shit and was furious (I’m pretty sure he’s bipolar) and started yelling at the 4 year old that they don’t pay me to play with him and that he can’t go around telling people that

Like he was like “are you serious?? We don’t pay her to play with you! We pay her to take care of you! DON’T go around telling people that!!”

So I’m confused.... I’m sure not all parents are like he is (he has a lot of issues) but would you get mad if your child told everyone that the purpose of their nanny was to play with them?

I’m pretty sure kids are too young to even understand that a babysitter or a nanny is supposed to take care of them instead of play with them.... well not “instead of” but I think you know what I’m trying to say
