Does any one live in the Fort Lauderdale or Boca Raton area?

My husband received a job offer out in Boca Raton. I have lived in Vegas my entire life and my husband grew up in SD and has been in vegas almost 10 years. So it’s all we really know. 
The Economy is pretty good here and we make good money to afford the cost of living. I would like to know what it’s like out there? 
How’s the environment, community, weather, economy? Is it hard to find a part time job? Are schools good? Rent prices? Any advice you might have is appreciated 🥰

I lived in Fort Lauderdale for 16 years.
It's hot. It's expensive. The schools suck. Lol. We moved north and it was the best move ever.

I lived an hour north of there for many years a while ago. 
Boca is a place for the wealthy for sure. It’s expensive and hot. It’s Florida so there’s lot fo retired people overall.

Don’t live down there anymore, but I was born and raised right outside of Ft. Lauderdale (Davie to be exact). I still have tons of family down there. 
1) Heat - compared to Vegas heat, it’s worse. You have an incredibly high humidity rate, so it’s always hot (even at night). You’ll understand what people say when they have swamp ass from being outside for more than 5 minutes.
2) Weather - it rains pretty much every day. Quick afternoon thunderstorms because of the heat that builds up. Hurricanes are also a thing. You have to prepare each time to be out of power, the longest we went was a week.
3) Cost - while the actual cost of items in stores is the same, insurance (both car and home) is high. You also have higher property taxes as there’s no state income taxes. If you’re looking to buy a home, they are still fairly expensive, but real estate in that area took a dive after 2008/2009 economy. Building back up though.
4) Schools - they definitely aren’t the worst in the nation lol but I would look at ratings and try to get your kids into good ones. They also have private school options that aren’t related to churches.
5) Allergies - this might be something you haven’t considered, being in Vegas, but allergies are very much a thing there. I didn’t have to take my allergy medicine in Vegas, but would die if I didn’t in South Florida.
