Tongue tie?

Has anyone had to get their little ones tongue tie done? Was aftercare difficult and did it help breastfeeding?

Do your research, find a preferred provider and don’t correct if they don’t need it. There are lots of tongue tie sites on Facebook that have ‘experts’ that told me my daughter had a horrible lip tie so she must have a tongue tie. Then as she got older they commented on a narrow arch and crowded teeth so she must have a tie. They will tell you everything is because of a tie. She never had any symptoms...a good latch, good eater. She was evaled to have NO tongue tie, but they had me freaking out over nothing. I’ve also seen parents regretting the decision every single day fighting with the painful stretches that you have to do following the procedure. Babies who no longer latch at all and refuse to eat for days after because they’re in so much pain. There are many good outcomes, but just know there always a few poor outcomes.

My 2 daughters had tongue tie and were both clipped on their first pediatrician appointment. A very simple process that heals very quickly.  As far as latching the difference is very noticeable. 100% worth it! 
One last thing... both have upper lip tie but we are not messing with that one until permanent teeth come out.

I had my son’s tongue tie cut around 6 weeks. It was a very simple procedure. The doctor recommended a bottle, paci, or nursing right after for comfort/pain relief. It worked. My little guy was only upset for 1 minute tops. He stopped crying as soon as he could suck. Aftercare was very simple. Anytime I’d feed him, I’d make sure to rub the area with a little coconut oil or breastmilk to prohibit it from sticking. It healed very quickly. I waited too long to address his tongue tie. 6 weeks of very painful nursing. So when his tie was finally dealt with, I had damaged nipples and chose to exclusively pump. Good luck to you!

Both my boys had ties cut. My oldest as around 4weeks old. Went from bleeding nipples and being in pain til pretty much pain free and nipples that healed quite quickly. My youngest had it done at like 6 hours old - couldn't latch at all before that. Latched perfectly pretty much immediately after it being cut.

At the hospital after he was born I asked he be checked for tongue tie their response was "don't believe in tongue tie" ummm what...the....fuck.....🤔🤬 then I had a lactation consultant tell me he had neither tongue or lip. Seen a second opinion which was told he had both (but turned out she diagnoses every baby and coincidently gets commission from the place she sends you).  Thirdly the Chiro said lip is fine, but does have tissue under his tongue so a potential tongue tie. So here we are 3 months into the most painfull thing I've ever endured!  (On top of all this also having vasospasm😖😭) what is a first time mum suppose to do/believe?
