When did you tell work?

Question

At what stage did you tell your work you where pregnant, I’m UK based. Just wondering when and if there’s a good time?
Edit: thanks everyone! I didn’t know the legalities with it! 
I have a contract and good maternity and it won’t change what I do day to day, plus it’s all zoom now so no worries about showing haha! I was pushing for a promotion so I’m more thinking I don’t want it to hinder that, so would like to wait a little longer ❤️

I told my boss the day I found out. And we were trying, so it was very early. I work with novel pharmaceutical compounds and wasn’t willing to risk dosing something with unknown potential side effects. I was able to take on more administration instead. It was helpful that he knew because I was extremely sick from the get go and often couldn’t manage a full day. I didn’t need to try to hide it or anything, I just let him know I was leaving for the day.

After first trimester but if you don’t have short term disability set up then ASAP. But you’re in the UK, last I checked y’all don’t have to worry about stuff like that.

It really depends on your comfort level and your job position. 
If you duties put baby at risk tell them immediately. If it’s a safe job I would recommend waiting until 12 weeks.

Early early! I work in healthcare and found out I was expecting right when the US shut down for Covid and they talked about sending our office nurses out to do testing. I was like um no! And I also had really bad nausea with my first and it’s nearly impossible to hide.

I’m UK too...I’m friends with my boss so told her after the 12 week scan with my first oregnancy
2nd time around I waited a tiny bit longer - wanted to wait much longer but was paranoid that everyone is looking at my belly! 😂
Do you have a contract?
I think legally you have to tell your employer 15 weeks before due date...so that’s like 25 weeks. 
You’d be showing by than anyways...

I told my boss at 6 weeks with my first and 4 weeks with my second. I have HG though and I’m teacher so it is tricky to hide. My boss is also very lovely, understanding and has two small children of her own so it’s an easy conversation.
