Help getting fertility back while still nursing

Do any mamas have advice for getting back their fertility while still breastfeeding? I have been nursing my little one for a little over a year and have yet to have my period since I conceived him. I don’t pump when he is at daycare (full time, 8am-5pm) but I do breastfeed on demand when he’s at home and we bed-share. It does feel “stormy” in my uterus on and off the last couple of months, and I’ve spotted for a day on two separate occasions, but no periods. We want to try for a second but don’t want to stop nursing to do so.

Any help, advice, or anecdotes are welcome!

Did anyone else have the same general feelings of light crampiness and bloating for a few months before getting your period? Tia!
