What size winter coat should I get??

My 17 month old is wearing size 18m right now and it fits him perfectly, just a tiny bit of extra room. I want to buy one before everything is out of stock or super expensive.

Both of mine were in 2T at a year. I'd definitely do 2T. Kids can wear a coat that's a little too big, but they can't wear one that's too small. So even if he is still in mostly 18 month by the time winter is here, he should still be able to qear a 2T coat. But if he's in 2T and you buy 18 month, he probably wouldn't be able to wear it at all.

I would do 2t. My 18 almost 19 month old is in 2t 3t clothing and I am doing his winter coat 3t. I am in Ohio so he will have layers on because it get cold . So I always suggest buying a bit bigger bc once you have layers in on heavier winter clothes then it will be really snug

Definitely up a size so 2t cuz if it barely has from now it’s not going to be winter for a few more months .
