This book is really helping ease my fears.
Reading Ina May's Guide to Childbirth. Ive been scared about labor, even though it will be my 6th delivery they have all been extremely different!
1st baby- water broke at 35 so I was induced.
2nd-Failed NST was induced at 36 weeks.
3rd-Had no clue what going into labor on my own felt like so I sat at home and waited, was most 8 cm when I got to LandD so I had a very rushed and scary natural birth.
4th-had a sweep and was in labor 24 hrs later, but had a bad reaction to the epidural.
5th- had sweep and went into labor that day, had a even worse epidural experience.
Been very nervous the last few weeks as I plan to have a unmedicated birth, definitely no epidural but reading this book has helped me tremendously. Im not as nervous and am starting to look forward to it! So many good tips. Some things I've learned so far is that I don't think I want to be on my back in bed. I want to try and move around in different positions if I feel like it. I dont want IV fluids I want to try and have ice and maybe even a snack if Im hungry. I may try the labor tub or hot shower. Going to try and really focus on my breathing and get in the zone. Trust my body! Every single birth the nurses have made me stall on pushing when my body is literally screaming to push!!! I know for sure they made me wait last 2 babies because the Dr was literally on her way, well if Im ready to push and the nurse is there I plan on following my instincts. Being told to not push is actually my worst memories from the births. And thats it so far. I still have a lot more to read but my fear is definitely being replaced by excitement!
