Lots of brown discharge

I’m 37 and 1 today. Yesterday I had my 37 week appt and dr did cervical check said I may have some spotting after. Came home went to the bathroom and had a decent amount of bright red blood. Like multiple liquid drops into the toilet plus plenty to clean up. Now going on about 20 hours and every time I’m going to bathroom I’m having a decent amount of brown discharge every time I wipe. I let the office know yesterday afternoon as I thought it would go away after a couple hours but didn’t. I was told this was normal after a cervical exam and only be concerned if it’s bright red blood. Old blood almost seems more concerning to me, where is it coming from??

This is my 4th pregnancy... I’ve never experienced this after a cervical exam for this long.

I may call back today as it just doesn’t seem right in my opinion.
