Do you tell your children you love them? I grew up in a family where I love you was said pretty much only when saying goodbye or goodnight(this was my dads thing. My mother wasn’t in the photo after I turned 10.) I catch myself as a mother myself now constantly telling my son I love him. I just look at him and randomly get that urge to hug,kiss and express how much I love him. Something I didn’t personally get from my own mother even when she was in the photo. So I’m just curious is it normal to feel a constant urge to express your love for your children to them or is it just me over compensating for the love I didn’t receive myself as a child?

‘I love you’ was rarely said when I was growing up and I feel the same urge. My son is only 11 months old, but I tell him I love him constantly throughout the day every single day. I always struggle with knowing if my parents loved me or not and I don’t ever want my kids to feel that way. I don’t ever want there to be room to wonder if I love them.

Growing up my parents didn’t say I love you that often, and as I got into my teen years I never heard it (I was a wild child always getting into trouble, so we were constantly fighting). I knew they loved me, but I didn’t hear it often. Once I was 20 and my parents were traveling a lot I started getting anxiety that something would happen to them and I would regret not telling them I love you. I started telling them I loved them and they started telling me in return. Our relationship is amazing now. BUT, I’m the same as you when it comes to telling my son I love him. I tell him constantly throughout the day and I know it’s because of how I grew up. I never want him to go a minute thinking I don’t love him, so I will do whatever it takes to show him and tell him. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it! It sounds like you’re a good mama!

I’m the same with my kids 4&5 and I think I’ve expressed it also there dad does a lot... My daughter randomly come up and say mommy I love you so so much 😍 it’s a bond that can’t be broken❤️

Growing up those words weren’t really said. Same as you, only when saying goodbye. But now that I have my baby (she’s only 5 days old) I’m constantly telling her I love her even though she doesn’t understand me. I’m pretty sure I’ll always tell her. I don’t know how you wouldn’t always tell your child that 😭😭

I tell my son everyday.  When I was a child my parents barely told me but they did show me they loved me everyday. I'm just more verbal with my love though .

I think that’s perfectly normal, my dad was never affectionate when I was young (still isn’t). My mom was always affectionate, but I always really enjoyed snuggles and all that good stuff.
My son is 2 and he’s is a total love bug, always wants to snuggle, hold hands, hugs and kisses. My husband and I totally shower him with love 🥰🥰🥰
In my opinion, wanting to give our children the things we wish we had ja the most normal thing in the world
