Can you eat when you’re in labor?

I’ve heard many only allow water and ice chips, is that true? And at what point are you able to eat again?

Not suppose to . I was given ice , water , popcisles , Powerade

I wasn't allowed to eat anything even before I had the epidural. Quite frankly I wasn't even hungry by the time real labor hit. I was very hungry after I delivered

If you get an epidural no solids just in case you have to be intubated. They gave me popsicles and broth. My husband snuck me some beef Jerky though 😬😂

I went in for an induction at 4 pm to have my daughter, and they told me no food after midnight. I was craving a milkshake around 10 so one of my nurses literally drove across the street to McDonald’s and got me one 😂

The day I was induced they made me eat breakfast.  And then later they gave me applesauce, popsicles, water, ice chips, and Gatorade.

With my first - once in labor (water broke) and at the hospital I could only have ice chips or Gatorade chips (we brought those). They said I could drink it as it melted but couldn’t have just normal water. We’ve since moved and I’m not allowed to eat or drink in labor until such a time as I get an epidural.

I was allowed to eat jello, broth and Italian ice. It was nice surprisingly. I was even allowed black coffee and unsweetened tea

I honestly didn’t even want food when I was I was in active labor. I just wanted water and silence 😅👌🏼 pushes my daughter out and 3 minutes later my amazing nurse was feeding me saltine crackers and apple juice while I birthed the placenta and breastfed. 💗😅👌🏼

Depending on if you are in the hospital or not. Hospital discourages it because the c-section rates are so high.   Homebirths it is encouraged because you need energy for delivery.
