My Wild birth story 8/21

Eden

Well, my due date was Sept. 1 and for the past 2 or 3 days I had false labor too and would be tired from contracting off and on. At my 38 week 2d appointment this past Thursday I mentioned it to my dr. She checked me and said I was already 4-5cm dialated and 70% effaced. She asked if i wanted to be admitted and start pitocin etc. I said no I really just want to try and have a natural birth....(what was I thinking...) anyways she said do you want me to sweep your membranes to see if we can Jumpstart it and hopefully you can start contracting regularly? I said sure. She did that then I started having period like cramps after that but my contractions were still irregular however they were lasting longer maybe 1 minute instead of 30 seconds and were feeling a little stronger like I would have to breath through some of them. So at 9am Friday I called my dr. She told me just go to the hospital and get checked to see if I had changed. I didnt think I did and we drove 10 mins to the hospital. I almost told my husband let's go back home because I didnt want to get checked and be told I wasn't progressing and i didnt want to be on petocin, but he was worried I would give birth at home and he didnt want that so 9:30am we went into the hospital. Triage was like what can I do for you? I said I think I may be in labor but I'm not sure bc my contractions aren't regular. I was walking and talking like normal. The nurse was very nice but she was thinking I was not in labor at all. She got me in to be checked and she said how dialated were you at your last appointment? Non-chalantly I said 4-5cm. She said ok. Then it hit her....she said 4-5?!?! I said yes. She was thinking im a little crazy because I was acting normal. She checked me and her eyes got wide. She said um you are 6-7cm but my effacement hadn't changed. She said you are staying to be monitored and let me call your Dr. I said ok. Next thing I know everyone is rushing to get my labs and set up the baby warmer. My husband was like why are they setting up now? Won't it be tonight or tomorrow? They said she is coming today and probably soon. So I labored an hour then at 1030am I felt the same and I was checked and I didnt change any. So she let my dr. Know. My dr. Said she would arrive around noon to break my water to see if we could get my contractions to start at a normal rhythm. This was my 3rd birth so I knew breaking my waters would really make things intense and baby would probably be there an hour or 2 later since that is what happened with my 2nd son. 1230 my dr. Arrives and breaks my waters. I start crying and was full of emotions because I knew everything was getting so real!! I labored on the labor ball for 30 mins or so and I was contracting more and starting to feel strong contractions! I called my nurse bc i had to pee. I was helped to the bathroom and my contractions became a billion times worse and consistent and I was not getting a break. I about tore their bed up i was moaning so loud. I told my nurse I felt pressure. She said lets get in the bed and check you. I got in the bed she and i was only 8cm. I felt defeated, so I said i need an epidural she said ok. She walked out the door. Here's were it gets crazy. Not even 2 mins after she walked out the door i was screaming help me help me help me. I could feel my body push and baby making her way out. She came running in and baby was crowning my dr was not here. She said dont push dont push she starts screaming GET THE DOCTOR!!!!! My poor husband was just holding my hand probably in terror. He will probably have nightmares now....my body pushed our baby girl out in 2 pushes. My doctor wasn't there. She got there right before I delivered the placenta. It was the craziest thing I had ever seen. She said as soon as she got the call she came running and I tell you want it was literally 5 minutes between being told I was 8cm and my dr showing up to deliver the placenta and she wasn't even in the building she was at the clinic so I knew she had to have been flying and she was fully dressed in her gown when she walked in. It still blows my mind how crazy fast it all happened. It was about 4 hours since getting to the hospital to having a baby.
