Have you tapped out for a tattoo?

Question

I just got my first tattoo..its pretty Big but we didn't finish the outline bc I started to feel sick. I have maybe a dollar sized portion left. I tried to eat but it didnt help. I was 5 hours in. 
Anway I feel like a baby for tapping, have any of you done it ? If so what was your reason?

Sometimes your body has just had enough. With my husband's back he tapped out once and the next time the tattoo artist said it was enough after 6 hours. We had numbing cream on him for the second session, and he didn't quite realize how bad he was getting until he stood up. It was late by then and we all agreed it would be better to schedule another session than try to keep going. 
I don't have anything that big yet. The longest one I've had was 3 hours.

My dad tapped out 3 times! Lol. He had to keep going back and take time on it he said it really hurt. He’s a 50 year old man and he had to tap out! So it’s normal and every bodies pain tolerance is wayyyyy different you can only handle a needle puncturing you for so long! Lol I say you’re pretty bad ass making it as long as you did 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼👏🏻👏🏻

I never have but I’ve never gone longer then 6 hours. I have a tattoo that was a 10 hour job but we split it Because it just got so late 😂 make sure you hydrate really well before and obviously eat. Maybe bring snacks/water and take breaks when needed. If you can’t sit for that long then you can’t sit for that long 🤷🏻‍♀️ nothing wrong with that

But I was so close to tapping out for my 8 hour knee tattoo. 😂 hey, it happens! Don’t feel bad

5 hours and you aren't even done with the outline yea that sounds pretty big and or at least more complex I guess most of my tattoos didn't have very complex outlines. I haven't tapped out but 5 hours is probably the longest I've gotten tattoo at a time. The last tattoo I got on my side/ribs was starting to get to me was also just an uncomfortable position on the table. It also isn't done yet but the tattoo artist had to go for the day.

I have several very large tattoos and have never tapped out. I’m good friends with my artist, so getting ink done is an all day affair. I would say that 5 hours is probably the least amount of time I’ve spent with him. But everyone is different and has different tolerance levels. This can also change depending on the location of the tattoo. For example, I got my chest piece done no problem! Barely even noticed. But my leg tattoos, especially in the ditch, are another story.
