Tell me about the return of AF after nursing.

Prior to my pregnancy, my periods were very erratic. Finally got pregnant and stopped BF in mid June after 8 months of pumping/nursing because it took a while to get pregnant and we wanted to start trying again.

AF arrived 7/18, normal duration/flow, etc, but she’s not come back again. So I’m on day 42 (several tests negative for pregnancy).

I was really hoping that after the first pregnancy by body might “realize what it’s supposed to do” and be more predictable/reliable.

So is it normal to have you first few periods be irregular after BF? Or is it just looking like my ovaries and uterus are going to be difficult again?
