Second period for the about 6 month straight, GREAT!😒

I’m 20 years old and my period is always irregular. I’ve gotten on birth control twice. The first time I can’t remember how long I was on it. The second time I was on bc for about 6 months. I don’t like the side effects of it so I stopped taking it. For months now my period has been from7-9 days long when they used to be only 4 days long and just now I started again for the second time this month. Ik the worst thing to do is go to the internet for answers....butttt I still did. It said one of the reasons for an irregular period is overactive or under active thyroid. And my mom was diagnosed with thyroid problems when she was 22 and had to get surgery, also several people in my family have thyroid problems. So is this something I should worry about?? Could this be cause me to have such irregular periods?
