Should I apologize or something?

I started work an hour ago at 6am. None of my managers are here right now so we have people from another department watching us, helping us, etc. That’s the best way I know how to put it.

My managers let us eat and take food while on the clock, off the clock. They never say anything. They even encourage us to do it. We work in wholesale so there are a lot of stuff that’s damaged and they’re no longer able to sell it so they let us take it.

I’m guessing the people from the other department weren’t aware of that because they saw me take a snack to eat and just stared at me... shocked. It’s 6am. I’m starving lol. I never open a box or anything that isn’t open already. I take from what’s already missing.

One of them decided to talk about it with my supervisor who was there (he’s normally here, he’s not new) and she said she found it rude of me to do that. My supervisor told her that our managers let us do it, it doesn’t bother them. And the woman just kept going on and on about it right behind me. The least you could do is talk to *me* about it...

I’m pretty sure she even went on the phone to ask people at the job in the other department if that was “normal” and if she should do something about it... they said no. Should I just apologize to her or something?
