Implantation or regular period

So my last period only lasted for 4 days and I am supposed to get my next period in 8 days. I’ve had cramping for the past 2 days now. 2 days ago I had light brown spotting then yesterday was brown and pink and then tonight I have pink and brown just enough to soap through a regular tampon. Could it be a period or possibly implantation? I am waiting until around the time my period comes to take a test
