Spotting first trimester

Hey pals,

Looking for some similar experiences and some answers :) I've googled a lot and haven't really gotten a concrete answer.

Currently 8 weeks pregnant and have been spotting brown blood from 5 weeks. It's not heavy. Not enough for a panty liner. Just every time I wipe after I pee there is some browny strings. Kind of like the same the last day or after the last day of your period. I've done the hcg levels testing several time and numbers are going up fine.

I went for a dating scan at 7 weeks and they told me baby was too small for measuring to come back in a week. I found that strange cause in the past my last two dating scans were at 6 weeks. Has anyone been through spotting like this? I read online it could be normal with no explanation , or it could be a miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy but I don't have any of those symptoms 😑
