Heading out to the lake 39 weeks pregnant?

FTM here, should I be sticking close to home
Or would you be comfortable heading out an hour drive to the lake? I’m torn between enjoying the last bit of summer with the family at the lake and being too nervous to go. 39+1 today, no real signs of labour.

For me personally don’t like to travel that late. My nephew is having a bday party 2 hours from home when I’ll be 39 weeks and I’m missing it because I’m too nervous... but I’m also already 3cm and 80% thinned out could last a while could go fast but I’m not risking it.

I wouldn’t because I’m sooo uncomfortable in the car already, can’t imagine being in labor for an hour in the car 😩

Oh its only an hour away! Thats nothing.  It takes me 45 mins to get to the grocery store! I'd go. 
I would not go if it were 2 or more hours away but I feel like an hour isn't far at all.

An hour away isn’t that bad but if you get on a boat in the middle of the lake factor that’s time in too— I wouldn’t want to be more than an hr away from the hospital.

I would go! Even if your water were to break while there, it’ll be a good amount of time before you would need to head to the hospital

I’m in your exact shoes (39+1 and expect her to arrive late) and I would go! I wouldn’t canoe/kayak, but would definitely enjoy some relaxing lake time :)

I believe the usual medical advice is not to go further than 2hrs from home/hospital in the last 4wks.  But that also varies from doctor to doctor... I’d say you are probably safe to go especially since this is your first.  But definitely bring your packed hospital necessities and infant car seat in case you have to head straight to the hospital from there.

We live 90 minutes from the hospital and when I asked earlier on the pregnancy if that meant we should be prepared to go to the hospital earlier in the labor process my doctor said nope. That might be because this is my first and she figures lots of time.... but we rushed to the hospital on Saturday because I was in lots of pain with what ended up being a kidney infection, and having done that will definitely want to go earlier in labour because not being able to really move in the car was hard!

How far away is it from your hospital? I’m almost 38wks and we’ve been spending weeks at my husbands family cottage which is 1.5hrs from our hospital but I’m having a scheduled section, and our first was overdue at 40 wks plus 5 days. I’ve also had zero labour signs. And it’s quite normal for first borns to be overdue. That being said, listen to your body and plan your trip out of there if you need to.
