Is it normal for your period to be late when first starting the pill ?

I keep spotting but no full period

Just to make sure you understand how the pill works:
Your old period date is now gone. You will period somewhere in the 4th week of the pill ((the week without hormones),
This is not real menstruation. It is withdrawal bleeding caused by the lack of hormones in that week of pills.
Some women will totally stop having periods on the pill, some will only bleed light or have spotting. This is not something to be worried about.
When you skip pills, you may get withdrawal bleeding due to the hormone levels in your body dropping.
Sometimes it is possible to get a side effect called breakthrough bleeding. This can happen at any time, but it is most common when you start the pill, when you use the pill to skip periods, and by some long term birh control like the Depo shot.
When you start the pill, it can take your body a month or two to get used to it.
