Women’s Right in the United States
I am appalled at our government system and culture towards women and their rights. We are a country split between race, sexual orientation and gender. We are in the middle of a pandemic and I have never felt supported by work to be able to work and have a family life.
I had my first born in 2019. My work only gave me six weeks to recover from giving birth and to give time to bond with my new baby. I even FMLA. I had to use some of that but being a new parent suffering from PPA/PPD. I wish they had a better support system in place for new mothers. There should a mandatory system in place were
I can get some time off and have help with getting help.
I am about to have my second child. I have state health insurance because my job doesn’t give health insurance till your year anniversary and have over 30 hours each week. The store I work scheduled my just below thirty so I would not get health insurance at my year mark. It is so frustrating. My husbands job also won’t make him full time so he could get health insurance and my son is also on state insurance because we can’t get any through our jobs. My husband will only be able to take off three days after I give birth.
There is a big need for mandatory maternity and paternity leave through their jobs. A parent needs to have time to bond with their baby and not have to worry wether or not they will have a job or money.
