Should I talk to my bf before I buy toys for myself??

Soooo long story short my bf has a crazy low sex drive which is fine I just have to "do it myself" more. But now its getting to the point where I want dick so I'm thinking about buying a dildo. I've never owned a sex toy before and I'm not sure how to go about it. I'd feel bad buying it without telling him but I feel like it'd be weirder to tell him about it lol. But we live together so chances are he's gonna know anyway. I'd feel embarrassed telling him about it because I'm afraid he'd feel bad. Advice ladies??
