Naming baby after their father?

Question

What are your thoughts about naming your son after the father? 
I’m having a little boy in February. My hubby and I decided to name him Christian Ryan. My husbands name is Christian.

I am not a fan of naming a child after their parent. I am glad my husband feels the same way. 
Children are the extension of us, but are their own person and will make their name their own. I feel this is what the last name is for to share and have the same.

I don't believe in Jrs/2nd 3rd etc and I'm glad my husband doesnt either. I think each child should have their own name and identity. And a thought out name the parents love.

I’m not a fan of it, I feel like my so’s name is something I say in moments of intimacy, so I wouldn’t want to associate my child with that same name. To each their own, though. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I personally don’t like following the whole first name thing. We’re naming ours after my Husbands middle name, which just so happens to have been my favorite male name growing up too

My husband is Joshua and our first son is Josiah Joshua 👍. Of course then when I had another boy Joshua wanted him to feel the love too and Malachi got his daddy’s middle name of John, but it didn’t stop there the next boy couldn’t be left out so Jonah got Jahoshua which is another name in the Bible for Joshua and to make things even crazier I’m now pregnant with a boy so his middle name will be Hoshea ( another name for Joshua in the Bible). So really it’s good but I definitely think that my husband and I got way to carried away with this😂. I don’t regret their names but I do think it’s crazy, but my favorite part was listening to my husband explain to his older sister that he just wanted his boys to each have his name. To which she said, “ isn’t that what your last name is for” 😂😂😂. She is so right! We were a little crazy but I still love it 🥰.

Not a fan. My fiancé was named after his father and his mother after her mother so of course he wanted to do the same. Our comprise was flip flopping his first and middle name for the baby. So he is Steven Adam and my son is Adam Steven. I feel like it was a good comprise, my son had his own identity but apart of his dads too.

I think it can be cute. But it’s not my thing I want my kid to have their own name. But that’s just me.

Not for us. Mainly because I really don’t like my SO’s name. Haha. He was named after his grandfather though and we named our son after my SO’s dad. Whatever works for you guys. Your kid is still “their own person” even if they share a name with someone.
