My FIL forces kisses on my 9 month old son and my son hates it. Should I say something?

I just dont know if I should talk with him about forcing affection on my son now or when he is older. My son bawls when my FIL does it so I end up holding him the whole time we are there. I just remember being older and feeling like I had to Let family members hug or kiss me because they were family. But I dont want my son to feel the same.

Everyone has asked why we aren’t letting them kiss our baby... I told them they can when she can say if she wants one or not 🤷‍♀️ they weren’t happy. Not sure why everyone feels the need to kiss other people’s babies...

Teach your FIL and son about consent. Your son should have a choice on who gives him kisses when. Your FIL should ask can I give you a kiss or do you want a kiss first. If your son says no he needs to respect that boundary. Maybe they could compromise on a hug or something. Set healthy boundaries in your family. Learning consent young can help kids not be victims too.

If he obviously cries - is def say something. It doesn’t have to be much - just ‘i know you love him but he’s not enjoying that’

Your son doesn’t have to touch or be touched by anybody if he clearly displays he’s upset. You could just simply said to your FIL “Hey *insert sons name* really gets upset when you do that. Can you please not do that?” Most people would understand. In my family I was always forced to hug family members and I remembered hating it. Now I’m not a preacher on consent, but if something makes someone uncomfortable, then it shouldn’t be a thing. You stand up for your little babe and do what you think is best momma.
