Contractions feel like...?

Really trying to narrow down what contractions feel like. Most women describe them as menstural cramps, but i read they can also be similar to gas pains. Is that true? Has anyone’s contractions felt similar to gas pains?

Def not like period cramps or gas pain for me. They were terrible and had me double over in pain. I had to just stop whatever I was doing and hold onto something and breathe through the pain.

Kind of like really bad menstrual cramps and kind of like your body is being torn in half from the inside.

They don’t feel like either of those things to me. For me, it was more of an intense tightening of the belly. Nothing like period cramps or gas pain. I know women can feel them differently though.
