Bonding with baby

Just wondering how everyone is getting on with bonding with their new babies?.

My husband and i are first time daddy and mommy so all of this is new to us.

We do not have a support network. No grandparents involved. No possible babysitters.

We lost contact with relatives a fair while ago.

I've looked for anyone posting on bonding with their new babies but haven't seen anyone yet.

My husband and i both are struggling a bit with the bonding process.

We had a last minute c section and then our little boy had to spend nearly 3 weeks in special care.

It felt like we had our baby but he wasn't home which was confusing.

When we took him home it was like we had just had our baby again if that makes sense.

Also because of covid visiting our little boy in hospital was hard. We were allowed in for 2 hours a day!. That's it!.

It has been a strange experience.

Our little guy is 8 weeks and 5 days today. He is perfectly healthy and doing great.

I know all these things can cause trouble with bonding but that can also just happen.

I guess we don't really feel like a daddy and mommy yet and it doesn't make us feel good. Almost like babysitting a baby on occasion.

Just wanted to open the floor on bonding to see everyone's experience. If anyone else is struggling.

Maybe we can help eachother.
