How long did it take?

Question

For you to get from 1cm dilated to at least 3-4 cm? Or to make some progress at all? I’m 1cm dilated at 38 weeks and it’s my first baby. My doctor refuses to let anyone go past their due date (mine is October 8th) before she starts to induce. I’m worried that I will have to be induced.

I wasn’t dilated at all until I went into labor. My last cervical check at 39w was 0 cm and high and tight. But I was about 75% effaced. Morning of 39 +3 I got my bloody show, and ended up being the day I went into labor. Doctor said it matters far more how effaced you are because dilation can happen any time.

With my first, it took about four hours to go from not at all dilated to four cm. With my second, I was 3cm on arrival and was 7 cm within an hour and a half and delivered about an hour after that.

I was 1 cm for at least 3 weeks that we know of. May have been longer but my first check was at 36 weeks. We were going to induce at either 37 weeks or 39 weeks depending on what my blood pressure decided to do. Pregnancy induced hypertension. The last 7 weeks I was going to 2 NSTs and 1 AFI every week. Lots of appointments. We were able to safely push induction back to 39 weeks. Cervical softening and pitocin. As soon as I hit 2 cm baby was at 0 station so they broke my water. 5 1/2 hrs later I was 10 cm and pushing. Idk how long I'd have stayed at 1 cm without being induced though. No real way to tell for sure. I just know it went really fast after breaking my water.

I was 1.5 cm dilated from 38 weeks and didn’t actually go into labor or dilate further until the day after my due date.

My daughter it took a couple hour was induced, with my son I was induced to and it took 2-3 days just to get my cervix to dialte soften and dilated to 3 and when i did I went from 3-10 in 15 min

At 36 I was 2 cm
At 37+3 I was 3 cm 
At 37+6 I was 4 cm 
An hour later I was 4.5 cm.
