Is HSG test required before being prescribed clomid?

I got PCOS and not sure if I ovulate every month. So I’m being prescribed Clomid. Been TTC 3 years. I’m 30. Had a MC couple months ago. Got history of low progesterone so also got prescribed suppositories.

I don’t think it’s “required” per se, but responsible RE’s will do one before starting any kind of treatment or medication because what good what it do to give Clomid to a patient whose tubes are closed?

I was on clomid 3 months by my OB and even with confirmed ovulation no luck so then sent to RE and had a HSG there before starting letrozole.

My obgyn didn’t do one and she prescribed me clomid and femara. My re required it before prescribing it. I think it depends more on the doctor.
