How to pick the right baby essentials ?

Like pram, bassinet, cot etc. How to pick them? Should i go with the brand name? Are there other factors involved? I've never had to buy any of that stuff before so I'm going completely blind here. I'm open for any advice

Honestly it’s what’s best / favorite to you. If you can, which I know with Covid it isn’t always feasible, test out the strollers your store has. Push them around and see what works for you. What feels right what you like to look at and look at reviews online if you can for the ones you like to compare those ones. 
We are in the US and all car seats have to pass the same standards to be sold so we know they’re all safety tested and passed so we had to look at prices and the extra features included to decide what to go with. Our stroller set was chosen how I explained above I tested them out and saw what I liked best made sure it did what I wanted (forward and read face) and found out the one I’d been looking at since before I was pregnant was on sale so we went for it. 
Most stuff is just preference and everyone will have a different opinion!

I can say what I learned with my first but everyone has different experiences. I had a bassinet that was taller than my bed and it didn’t roll and I tore so bad with labor that getting in and out of bed I cried from pain so this time I want a lower bassinet so I can get the baby in and out easier. That was like my major thing.
