Why did a social media death affect me so much?

When I was 16 I followed this little girl who had cancer on Instagram.

She was 13 and a beauty influencer, well a baby one. Her passion was makeup.

And then one day she explains that she’s done fighting the cancer. They found more and she had been fighting it her whole life so instead of having the surgery which she explained is excruciating, she chose to let nature take its course and she died.

This devastated me, and I didn’t even know her. She was 13, a baby. She spent her life fighting so hard. I felt like I was this piece of crap because here i am with a healthy body and I’m not really doing anything special. I get emotional about it to this day and I’m 24 years old.
