Reverse gender disappointment
Don’t know it it’s ok to post in this group but I just wanted to let it out and hear what other people think.
So first me, my partner, my family and friends thought this baby I’m carrying is a girl. And then we went for an early scan and the tech said it’s most likely a girl!
Everyone seemed happy for us but no one was over the moon, which I originally thought was because they doubted me as a mum.
Anyway at 19 weeks we were told that it’s in fact a boy! I was happy actually because I’ve always imagined my first to be a boy, but I would love a girl also ofc.
But what got me is how happy everyone suddenly seemed for us, like EVERYone was thrilled all of the sudden and so interested in everything.. while just a day before no one cared it seemed.
And my fiancé’s mother actually said “I knew you could do it”...
And though I’m personally happy about a boy, I’m so sad that if it was a girl that most people around us seemed bummed out and almost sad on our behalf... 😔 like she wouldn’t have mattered that much... like we had failed our first pregnancy... and stuff.
Idk. Anyone experienced this?
