For those of you with large, supportive families - did you buy anything before your baby shower?

I kind of want to buy some things just to feel more prepared, but at the same time I could save on money and see what all I get from the shower. BUT I also don’t wanna wait til the last minute to get everything we need 🤔

I haven’t bought anything yet and the only thing I think I’m gonna end up buying is the dresser, but even then, I might get lucky and not have to. His adopted mom said she’ll more than happily buy whatever I need, she said she’s even gonna buy the dreft detergent because I wasn’t planning on using that. His brother said after he gets out of the field that he’ll look and see if there’s anything left that needs to be bought on my registry - and he already bought a 150$ swing

I just bought things like diapers and clothes beforehand and special things for the nursery that were very specific. Then we bought the rest after my showers.

I had like 55 people at my shower. I got lots of stuff but none of the bigger items except my crib from my mom. But I did get some gift cards which I used towards some bigger stuff

I bought my crib and changing table, the rest I left for after the “shower” (I ended up just posting my registry on Facebook because of Covid but luckily I still received so much love and support).

We also have a large supportive family, so we’re waiting until after the shower to buy anything. 
When I was doing my registry, I put everything I wanted/needed on it. EVERYTHING. Socks, bedding, crib, safety supplies, bottles, nursery decor, everything. That way, I could calculate a final cost of anything and everything we needed for the baby. 
We’ve set aside the cost of everything, that way after the shower, we can go down the list and buy what we still need, and likely have a chunk leftover to go into little ones savings/college fund.
We did buy clothes and such before the shower though, they’re just too cute to resist.

We waited til after the baby shower to get anything except the car seat. I'm picky about car seats so I wanted to pick it out.

We bought all her clothes and everything for her room.  Everything else waited for the baby shower

Idk where you registered but I did target and I got a discount buying after my shower date might be something to look into.
