2 Month Old Baby Girl cannot breathe correctly when alseep horizontally.

Valentina

Our 2 month old cannot sleep laying down. Started at week 2. Every time we lay her down to sleep, even if she is in deep sleep, she is awakened by not being able to breathe correctly, making suffocating sounds, trying to clean her airway by scratching her throat and has reflux as well. If we hold her upright on our chest when she sleeps, she’s peaceful.

Myself and her father ended up holding her in a 45 angle degree, day and night while she sleeps on our chest. Tired many times to lay her down but don’t work. She suffers.

By holding her upright , it’s the only way she will have a peaceful nights sleep and she won’t wake herself up struggling to breathe. Feel bad for her cause it’s not that she’s doing it intentionally or wants to be held . She just can’t breathe correctly.

Dr said it’s common as newborns still have developing throats till the age of 1. It’s heartbreaking and tiring for both myself and my husband who have taken shifts to be able to cope with sleepless nights and days.

We even started sleeping in different rooms or else we can’t function the next day. We did take her to 2 different doctors, but seems that there is no solution but to wait till she develops.

Any similar experience and any solutions?
