Why does my baby not sleep 😭

Question

Can someone think of a reason why a baby wouldn’t sleep? My baby is 4 months old and has never been a good sleeper. He wakes several times during the night and only takes like 20 min naps during the day. I follow wake windows and feel like I have tried everything.

By four months babies are already used to certain patterns and rhythms. 
Sometimes first parents think their babies are bad sleepers, but actually their babies are only noisy sleepers. Babies sometimes even act as if they are awake (open eyes, moving, maybe fussing) but they actually still dream or just awake for a couple of minutes before continuing their nap (just as we adults do too). 
First parents tend to run to their baby at every little sound they make, even pick them up and wake them up this way. 
If this sounds true for you, you can try to give your baby some time to fall back asleep on his own. Even a little fussing or a cry is okay as the baby has to get used to the new rhythm. I don’t mean to let the baby cry until exhaustion but a little fussing is just normal and he won’t mind. 
Often they fall asleep again on their own. You can test your baby’s ability to sleep longer if you take him into a baby wrap or take a really long walk with him. If he can sleep longer there, he can in his crib as well. The sleep problems can be very individual for everyone. Maybe look for a good book on the topic.
