What were your “pre-conception” checkups when TTC #2?

Question

Particularly if you had highly irregular cycles with seemingly anovulatory cycles often (confirmed by bbt charts).
What tests did they do? 
Did they give you meds quickly or is it a long drawn out process? Do you have to see a fertility specialist or do PCPs/OBs help to an extent like prescribing clomid?
Trying to get an idea of what my expectations should be!

In my situation, I’ve been ttc #3 for 15 months with no success, not even really a late period. I saw my OB around the 7-8 month mark and she was confident I’d be pregnant soon so just gave me a check up and sent me on my way. But by a year of ttc when I wasn’t pregnant I went back in and did a progesterone test and at that appointment she gave me a referral to a fertility clinic. She said anything she would do testing wise the clinic would have to redo anyway so instead of making me pay for testing twice she said I could just go ahead and make the appointment if I wanted but she also suggested waiting until September and trying on our own, which we chose to do however I still wasn’t pregnant in sept. So I just had my first appointment at the clinic Monday and they did an ultrasound on me and some bloodwork. My husband has a semen analysis scheduled for next week. The fertility clinic doesn’t see anything so far that would indicate i have an issue but they want me to do IUI, so that’s the plan now!
